PROFESSIONAL WEBINAR SERIES
CURRENT EDUCATIONAL OFFERINGS:
How to Get Around Peripheral Leakage
Tracheoesophageal voice prosthesis (TEP) complications—especially leakage around the prosthesis—are among the most frustrating challenges in post-laryngectomy care. This webinar synthesizes key clinical research and real-world experiences to provide a systematic approach to evaluating and managing common causes of
peripheral leakage. Attendees will learn decision-making frameworks for prosthesis selection and replacement.

Talking Through Central Leakage
Central leakage is a common tracheoesophageal voice prosthesis (TEP) issue. This type of leakage can occur for a variety of reasons including valve wear over time, pressure, and/or microorganism growth. This live, one-hour webinar will include a brief overview of total laryngectomy anatomy and physiology and TEP structure and function as well as an overview of causes of central leakage, clinical troubleshooting/management, and considerations for TEP selection. *This offering will focus exclusively on total laryngectomy products specific to InHealth Technologies and will not include information on other similar or related total laryngectomy products.

Emergent Situations in Total Laryngectomy: Considerations for Allied Health Providers
Healthcare for a patient post-total laryngectomy is a multidisciplinary effort of inpatient and outpatient intervention. As allied health professionals become part of the care-network for total laryngectomy patients, it is vital to provide information regarding the emergency management of this unique patient population, with speech-language pathologists (SLP) playing a crucial role in providing peer education. Situations such as stomal stenosis, mucus plugs, pulmonary considerations in total neck breathers, and tracheoesophageal voice prosthesis (TEP) dislodgment will be discussed. This live, one-hour webinar will explore the basics of total laryngectomy, troubleshooting/management of common complications, and the importance of a multidisciplinary team.

Tracheoesophageal Puncture in 2024: Who, When, and How?
Tracheoesophageal puncture (TEP) has long been considered the gold standard communication option after total laryngectomy surgery. Practice patterns have shifted back and forth over the years with regards to who undergoes TEP, when in the continuum of care a TEP takes place, and even the surgical approaches themselves. While speech-language pathologists are not surgeons, they are arguably one of the most vital and long-term members of the care team for patients undergoing a total laryngectomy, especially with regards to TEP. This live, one-hour webinar will explore the who, when, and how of tracheoesophageal puncture and the role of the SLP in total laryngectomy/TEP patient care.
